Hello and wellcome
This is the brake balancing mechanism
It is quite common to fail and since the original is a bit expensive
it usually is removed and replace with a T. (mine is de-activated also)
What you will notice is a unbalance in braking, moste noticebly on the paved streets and in the rain and more if the rear is without weight.
You will find that the rear brakes seem to have too muche braking power and tend to make the rear wheels lock up easily.
If you are careful driving you should not have much of a problem
There are at least 3 diferent tipes of this part depending on the type of brakes.
Do you have 4 Drum brakes or Disks in the front ?
