cheap new disc?

Hello everyone, sorry for writing in English. If this is useful hopefully someone will translate for me.
I have been looking at options for front brake discs for the UMM. I have found that the brake discs for a KIA Sportage are nearly the same size. There is 1mm difference in overall height, that would be easily taken up by the movement in the caliper. They are also slightly thicker, 24 mm instead of 20mm but the volvo brake discs are also 24mm thick and they use the same caliper so that should be OK. The only problem may be with the centre hole, if this is too small it would be worth getting them machined out.

just found that the centre hole is slightly larger so it will work without any machining. So it looks like these discs will fit our UMM's but they are €80 for a pair not €300!

Does anyone know or can they measure the hole for the bolts in a UMM disc please?

Hi Mário, I have spoken to one of the manufacturers of these discs. The hole size in the Kia discs is 12.8mm. It is not perfect because we will have to make to holes larger with a drill, but it is better to have holes too small than too big! I asked today for a price for these discs from a local car parts shop. They want €140 for a pair. I have an Alter 1 with the old brakes and I have all the parts to change my UMM to disc brakes but the discs I have are too thin to use. When I have everything ready to fit them, I will let everyone know if it works. I have to get a service kit for the calipers from somewhere and the new discs from the UK. Maybe in two or three weeks.

I reckon we are all a bit lazy in finding the correct information.(Me included)

Hi Everyone,
I am still waiting for other parts for my UMM before I start all the work. I have a lot of work to do to it in the winter! I need to have a set of umm discs that are OK in case the KIA discs do not work, I have found the KIA discs for €70 euros now.

Boas Jorge, ja tive os dois a par e as diferenças são:
-furo central Kia maior
-espessura disco Kia maior
-espessura da falange de aperto Kia menor
-afastamento falange/disco igual
-furos menor diametro

Pessoalmento considero uma solução, nem que tenha de levar uma bolacha para calçar a diferença de espessuras da falange central.
